Microsoft Surface (Windows 8 Tablet)

Microsoft has launched Surface, Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's chief executive, unveiled a new Windows 8 tablet, at the Milk Studios in Hollywood during its Los Angeles media event on Monday, June 18, 2012. Microsoft launched a series of tablet computers on Monday as the tech giant fought to regain ground lost to Apple's iPad. Steve Ballmer said the new devices are called Surface tablet. The device will run versions of Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system. "We want to give Windows 8 its own companion hardware innovations," Ballmer said. The 9.3mm thick device has a magnesium case, features a 10.6-inch HD widescreen display, an integrated kickstand and weighs less than a kilo (1.5lbs). The device comes with a detachable keyboard and trackpad that attach magnetically to the tablet.
