[Update 5: August 31 2012 at 11:26PM] Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports tsunami warnings LIFTED for Philippines, Indonesia, Belau/Palau as of 10:54 PM. However, even though PTWC lifted its warning, evacuation alerts are still operational at th is time. Citizens advised to stay alert for advice from NDRRMC. PTWC says that only national and local governments are authorised to make decisions regarding official state of alert in their areas.

[Update 1: August 31 2012 at 9:52PM] ALERT LEVEL 3 TSUNAMI WARNING ISSUED FOR: Southern Leyte Surigao del Norte SamarTsunami warning issued for Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, Guam, N. Marianas, Papua New Guinea. - NOAA. A Strong 7.9 Magnitude strike many regions in the philippines today at 8:45pm (August 31 2012) according to US Geological Survey (USGS). Phivolcs already issued a tsunami warning and possible evacuation warning in Samar, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, and other provinces facing the Pacific Ocean.
