American Idol – Phillip Phillips Needs Kidney Surgery

American Idol Finalist Phillip Phillips urgently needs Surgery as adviced by the Doctor! But Philips chose to hold off the surgery until the Season 11 winner is announced on Wednesday. But the experts have advised he seek help immediately. Will Phillip Phillips be able to compete during the American Idol finale next week? If his doctors have their way, they want him to drop out of the competition and have surgery as soon as possible. But the singer intends to fight for the American Idol crown vs Jessica Sanchez during the final sing-off this coming Wednesday, May 23. Phillips has been battling with kidney problems since the start of the competition. Earlier on in the season, host Ryan Seacrest had mentioned before a performance, that Phillips had just come off minor surgery that apparently was a temporary solution. But his condition has reportedly gotten worse during since March. Celebrity news site TMZ reports that his medication causes dry mouth and that this has impacted his singing. TMZ is reporting that Phillips has been “urged by his personal doctor to get surgery immediately” but that Phillips wanted to work through the pain given that the finals are a week away. Recovery time for the surgery would last at least 6 weeks. The 21-year-old Phillips has undergone five kidney stone surgery since October of last year and was hospitalized in January for issues relating to his condition.
